I’ve just always thought that rocking chairs make the room look “homier”…plus rocking soothes me…so, I guess I think it will be nice having it there to sit in while grading/planning or whatever, especially when my kiddos are napping.
I think that it would work well during teacher read-alouds specifically, which I plan on doing a lot of in kinder.
Anyone out there have a rocking chair in the classroom? Do you use it on a daily basis?
I’m so bored that I’m actually planning out my entire week’s worth of outfits…
really.

I don’t consider myself courageous…I just knew that this wasn’t where I belonged. I think it’s important to stay positive and take on the mindset of “I know I can find a job where I am appreciated and supported-it is just going take a lot of work to find it.”
I’m not going to lie…searching for a job is almost a job in itself, so doing it while teaching was stressful and exhausting. If I were you, I would take control-don’t let your principal dictate your future. If you are unhappy, go out there and make connections, apply for jobs, and e-mail principals and recruiters. It is never too late to find a job for the fall! Good luck and stay positive!
There are so, so many improvements and changes I want to make.
There are so many things that I still am unsure of about my new school.
I’ve been Googling/Pinteresting, and I think it has overwhelmed me even more. I feel like I will never measure up to the teachers who run beautiful, effective, organized classrooms. Workstations clean and smoothly running, all papers and data neatly organized, and small groups and Guided Reading area clean, with all supplies ready to go.
How long will it take me before I can give my future students this? I feel guilty that my current and future students got stuck with a first year teacher who quite often feels like she has no idea what she is doing. It’s not fair to them. I want to be better. For them.
I start my new job in T-minus 14 days, and I’m desperately praying my questions will be answered.
This week will be the last week of school for us…the other teachers have declared it “Movie Week”…
Realistically, I know that my students will be bouncing off the walls, and while I’m not opposed to watching a few movies that I can relate to books we’ve read (I’m thinking compare/contrast), I don’t want my students to think that I’ve checked out on them. We only get so much instruction time each school year, and I think it’s important to use every minute we get.
I love videos in the classroom. Really, they can be great, especially for Science/Social Studies. However, I refuse to let my kids get into “Summer mode” and just sit with their brains tuned out all week. Not. Gonna. Happen.
EDUCATORS,
You need to watch this. I just saw the trailer on IMDB and ran upstairs to show you all. I cannot wait to see this film. I’d love to learn more about the true story behind it.
PS Maggie Gyllenhaal’s character says something about being the change you want. Hmmm.. That sounds vaguely familiar. :)
Watch it.
This rocks! I can’t wait to see it!
I’m so excited for this transition and change! We move in July, and I’m so, so excited! I think that is the start of our new beginning :)
the friend that was supposed to be moving in with my boyfriend and I just bailed…so I had to cancel on the realtor we had a meeting with tomorrow.
Looks like it’s just going to be the boyfriend and I moving, now. Which is pretty cool, I think.
Full day of apartment hunting tomorrow…
Any advice for a couple living together for the first time?
